Network Operations Centre Technician (London)
We are seeking an experienced Operations Centre Technician for our London office. The successful candidate will have experience and excellent communication skills in a technical and support network environment with a keen understanding of the trading environment. - Responsible for partnering with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and FXecosystem company members to assist in the installation, maintenance, operation of WAN/LAN in support of assigned contracts.
- Under supervision and direction you will support the base team efforts that insure the site WAN/LAN network and network management environment is and remains reliable with performance exceeding the contract service levels.
- Assist in supporting maintenance of network performance exceeding the contract Service Level Agreements.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of network devices including configuration loading, troubleshooting, support, and routine maintenance as directed by the Technical Director.
- Participate with other site engineering and technician staff in all areas of work assignments, on-call duty support with other locations as required.
- Observe and report site network performance and capacity issues to the Technical Director.
- Support cabling (copper and fibre) installation and test
- Support site network documentation through use of established best practices, forms, and processes.
- Continue to maintain and expand your technical knowledge and certifications in Cisco equipment.
- Acquire, maintain, and expand your technical knowledge and certifications in new networking equipment for a low latency infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the hardware and software deployed in the network including architecture and designs elements.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum Diploma in Engineering or IT.
- 2 Years experience in a technical and network support environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a technical information environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Team player who can engender team respect in the working environment.
- CCNA (or demonstrated equivalent experience) desired.
- Experience in Cisco router and switch operating software for both IOS and set-based environments at current release levels is desired.
- Experience in handling secure networks, Fast Switched Ethernet, GigE, and ATM is highly desired.
- A fundamental understanding and support of standard routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) in an enterprise environment.
- Experience and knowledge that demonstrates competency with network design, operational support, hands-on implementation, configuration and trouble-shooting of networking devices such as routers and switches.
- Experience in the implementation, support and trouble-shooting of VLANs including operational knowledge of Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), VLAN trunking, inter-VLAN routing and 802.1Q is compulsory.
- Previous experience with ticket management systems is an advantage.
- Experience in networking hardware setup from a clean OEM shipped configuration.
